MDCC Medium Gear Championships. Thursday 2nd September.
Submitted by Anonymous on 30 August 2010 - 11:31amMDCC 10 mile TT Medium Gear Championships Thursday, 2nd September, 6.30 pm start.
On a lovely September evening with almost a full field of riders Andrew Payne won the MDCC medium gear championhips with a time of 25:37. This was despite chest problems which left him coughing well after the event. Sam Hilton took second place finishing in 26:25 and Jorj James was third in 27:12 despite an impact puncture sustained hitting a pothole on Howe Lane. These 3 all win medals with Andrew taking the Tony Deadman Medium Gear Shield for the year.

Simon Greenland Shatters the Club's 12 Hour Record
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 August 2010 - 8:32amSimon Greenland riding yesterday the ECCA 12 hour event in the Newmarket area broke one of the Club's oldest records, the 1953 12 hour record held by Den Hutton. Simon covered 253.91 miles to break the old record by over 9 miles. He also finished 6th in the event. Fantastic ride Simon!
We hope to have more on this story direct from Simon later. We also hope to get a response from Den Hutton, now retired but still riding, from his home in New Zealand.

MDCC Open '10' Marlow / Bridlington CC '10'
Submitted by Anonymous on 15 August 2010 - 3:34pmOur open event this morning at least avoided the rain but a north easterly wind blowing the riders to the turn at the Thicket proved less helpful on the return journey. Overall it seemed to produce slower times today than on our usual course on the A4. Danuta Tinn [pb Science] was the only lady taking part and was a little disappointed with her time but at least she had the satisfaction of taking the Ladies prize. Fastest man was Justyn Cannon [ Royal Air Force CC ] but who said his time was over a minute and a half outside his personal best.
Simon Greenland and the 12 hour Record - Help Needed!
Submitted by Anonymous on 13 August 2010 - 2:15pmSimon Greenland was on course to break the Clubs 12 hour record set by Den Hutton in 1953 in last week's Breckland 12 hour when the race was abandoned after an accident to a rider which meant the road was closed. He had covered 180 miles in 8 hours leaving him 4 hours to complete another 64 miles to break the record. Simon would like to have another go at the the record as well as qualifying for the National BBAR Competition by taking part in the ECCA 12 hour in the Newmarket area on 22nd August.
