Next reliability ride

We need to think about dates for our next reliability ride....this is the 100km one which goes up to Benson. This weekend is probably too soon, and I have the London Revolution next weekend....how are people fixed for either 27th May, 10th June, 17th June or 24th June? (missed out the 3rd as its the long bank holiday weekend)....

Bird Hills Group ride 6th May 2012 or 50mile timetrial?

Yes Sundays ride was a tuff fast one and harder than most expected including me.  The 6 people taking part on a cold and damp May day were Simon, Callum, Mike W, Brett, Les R and myself.  We left the golf club sharper than normal as Simon was on time.  Mike suggested the normal route to keep it simple and limit the thought required, but Simon suggested a minor extension from the top of Pishill into Watlington.

Please note change of course for next Thursday's evening 10

Now that the evenings are getting lighter we will be moving to the H10/2 course on the A4 as from next Thursday (10 May). Course details are here.

Due to CTT regulations the first rider off will not be until 7-45 PM and because of the need to finish before sunset we will be limiting the field to 30 riders, so arrive early to avoid disappointment as no pre-bookings will be taken for this season.

Club 10 Handicap table now online

The 10 Handicap standings for the first five events of the season can now be found on the Championships page. The rules for this season long competition can be found here.

What a washout

Unfortunately we had to cancel today's 25 due to persistent heavy rain. The riders has all just signed on when the heavens opened - rain, wind, hail - we had the lot for best part of 20 minutes. You'd be surprised how many people can take shelter under two umbrellas and a table - four under each umbrella and two under, yes under, the table.

When the riders started handing back their numbers we knew there was a problem. Given the amout of water on the road and the lack of visibility we made the decision to cancel the event. Lets hope we have better luck next Thursday.

The first club 25 of the season is this Sunday

Do you fancy having a go at something longer than a 10? Then come along to our first 25 of the season this Sunday on the Drift Road course. Start time is a very civilised 3pm, unlike those rude early morning starts needed for most opens.

Even if you don't fancy riding the event, why not ride out to cheer on those who do.

See you on Sunday.

Bird Hills 15/4 - chains and chain tools

Nine riders turned up at the golf club this bright but cold morning due to a brisk north wind.  We set of promptly prior to Simon arriving and head toward Holyport with the expectation of meeting up with him.  We found Simon about 2miles away in the final throws of mending a puncture.

Please note change of course for this week's 10

We have now completed our three early season 10's on the HCC234 Shurlock Row course and now move on to the H10/10 course on Drift Road on Thursday 19 Apr. First rider off is at 7pm and we are restricted by the sunset time to 40 riders. Turn up early to avoid disappointment since we are not providing pre-booking of rides this season.

The first championship of 2012 has been decided

The results of the 2012 Sporting Courses Championship can be found here.

As well as being the organiser of both events, Andrew Payne was also the runaway winner of the competition, with an impressive agregate speed of 23.47 mph. Mark Dewey was well ahead of Mark Garnett after the Hilly 30 and managed a steady ride in the 15 to clinch second place, with Mark Garnett managing a creditable third place. No other members competed in both events.

Lets hope that our club chairman doesn't run away with all the trophies this year !

helpers required for 12th April tt

Currently we are a little short of volunteers for the next tt on the Shurlock Row course.   The key roles of start and finish time keeper are still required.  Neither of these tasks are difficult.  Once the watches are running the starter just needs to give 30, 15, 10 second warnings and a final count down.  All TT'ers should know the drill.  The finish time keeper just needs to press the split button every time a rider goes by and write down the riders number.  Recording the riders time and calculating the race time are purely optional activ
