Bird Hills ride 4th August - can we take it easy please?

A  group of 10 riders found their way to the golf club for today’s charge around the Chilterns.  This included Anastasia and Lucas deciding to step up from their normal Clock Tower ride.  As a number in the group had less experienced of riding with us, we decided to take one of our classic routes via Pishill. I and a couple of the more experienced riders were mindful of our juniors, so didn’t want to ride at a pace which was too aggressive.  So how did we get on?

28th July - Bird Hills ride - confusion causes crashes!!

On a sunny but slightly cooler Sunday morning 5 regulars turned up (Simon, Colin, Brett, Les along with me) and 3 new(ish) faces.  Andrew totally new to us, Simon who occasionally comes out and James from the Clock Tower group who experienced the combined ride the previous week.  With Les well warmed up from an extended ride to the golf club, he made some comment about heading out to Bourne End and up and down around High Wycombe.

As most of you probably already know, one of our members of many years, Simon Greenland, has recently had surgery to correct a blocked artery in his heart. As a way of expressing his gratitude to the High Wycombe Cardiac Unit he has decided to raise funds for them via a Just Giving page.

14th July Bird Hills group ride with members from the Clock Tower group.

With the sun shining 9 riders turn out for the usual gentle club ride.  Stuart arrived by car having just completed an early morning around Richmond Park.   He time was slower than last time, but overall he was 25 out of approximately 80 riders, so not to disappointing.  In terms of a route today Mike suggested we head up Icehouse hill from the Henley to Marlow road to make the most use of possible shelter from the sun.

Clock Tower Ride - 14 July ** note new start 21 July **

Seven of us met at the Clock Tower on a very warm Sunday morning.  Having made a brisk pace through Cookham, Bourne End, Marlow, Stokenchurch and Christmas Common, we met the Bird Hills group at the top of Pishill.  There we decided to join them for a ride back to Bird Hills (well Anastasia and Daniel did, the rest of us came later taking a slightly longer route).  Unfortunately my Garmin somehow deleted the activity so I can't tell you the speed, but it was just over 40 miles and reasonably quick.

Second Annual MDCC Outing to Box Hill

A gloriously warm June Sunday brought out 16 members and 5 guests for a ride to Box Hill and back.

Vätternrundan

Here are just some of the memories from a great trip that Magnus, Mark and I took to the Vätternrundan, a 300k ride around a Swedish lake with nearly 20,000 other cyclists.

Golf club 9/6 - don't let a break get way

The morning started gray and wasn’t forecast to brighten up till after the time we all expected to be back home.  This didn’t put off 9 riders meeting up at the golf club for the usual brisk ride.  This week a new rider Alistair turned up for what turned out to be a baptism by cycling fire.  Others in attendance along with myself were Les, Mike, Matt, Rob, Simon with Dan and Mark stepping up from the Clock Tower group.

Fast, flat 50 - reliability ride

11 of us turned up at the clock tower, two of our normal crowd had deserted us for the Bird Hills group (and looking at their Strava feedr I wonder if we will ever see them again?), but we had all ridden before and there were no new members so I did a quick check that everyone was happy with 50 miles and decided we could do the 80km reliability ride route today as I had it loaded on my Garmin.
