Second Annual MDCC Outing to Box Hill
A gloriously warm June Sunday brought out 16 members and 5 guests for a ride to Box Hill and back.
Dave D, Sarah, Daniel, Michael, Rob, Dave B, Paul, Magnus, Andy T, Stuart, Frank, Lee, Lucas, Harj, Andy C, Andy L, Paul, Craig, Gurpal, Keith and Mick (but not in that order!)
Keeping a large group together was a bit of a challenge, but with a few stops to regroup we managed it ok with only a couple of mishaps navigation-wise on the way out. Box Hill itself was inevitably crowded with at least two different sportives seeming to be using it (one going up, one going down). The cafe was doing a roaring trade, but served us very quickly considering the numbers as we made a welcome stop for a drink and cake (or two). The way back was more of a challenge as the heat rose, but again it was great how the group stayed together before we started going on our own ways at Windsor. A special thanks to Sarah who rode as 'laterne rouge' and successfully made sure that we did not lose anyone all the way there and back.
I made it 73.3 miles at an average speed of 15mph.
So does anyone know if 21 is a record number for a Sunday club run?
