Closing date for entries for the Open 15

Our second open time trial of the season, the Fifield 15, takes place on 23 May, which is just over two weeks from today. Since this is an open time trial entries must be on a CTT entry form accompanied by a cheque for £7.50 made out to Maidenhead & District CC.

Sportive Update

The Sportive pages on this site are now complete.  Unfortuately I was too late emailing text over to Peter for the May newsletter, so just a short summary here.

Sunday WLCA '25' Gurpal snatches 9th in an open event!

This mornings WLCA '25'  due to adverse weather, in the interest of rider safety, was run as a '10' using course HCC180.

On a terrible morning Simon Greenland and Gurpal Panesar  both rode  in the  revamped WLCA '10' near Great Missenden. They both prospered from the  60% of the riders  who didn't start  with Simon finishing 4th in 25:14 and Gurpal snatching 9th in 32:36.

Both of our riders deserve special commendation for riding this event when so many others were DNS.

MDCC Take Team Prize at WLCA '10'. Club '10' Results

NEWSFLASH - Chris Taylor Takes On The London Marathon

MDCC's Chris Taylor demonstrated yesterday what a talented athlete he is in completing the London Marathon in under 3 hours. Chris told Peter this morning that he had hoped to get near to 2hrs 48 minutes but he suffered some lower leg cramp which slowed him up considerably. He was watching the minutes tick away on his Garmin in the latter stages of the race  and only through a last painful sprint was he able to beat the 3 hour barrier and finish in  2 :58:08.

Well done Chris, brilliant effort.

MDCC Club'25' Fifield. 25th April

A Pleasant Sunday Afternoon

Peter Weir maintained his dominance of MDCC's Club events with another win in our '25' this afternoon. He was the only rider to go under the hour in 59:08 on a pleasant afternoon although a troubling  head  wind  slowed riders on the golf club stretch.

Gervase Takes The Lead!

IT'S ONLY TAKEN 130 YEARS!

Last night's '10' on the Fifield course provided a very special landmark in the Club's 130 year old history. MDCC's Gervase Foley took the lead in the Thursday Evening '10'  handicap league for the 'Bill Rundle Cup' with 31 points.   This is the first time ever a lady member has lead this competition which has been running since the late 1940s.  A brilliant effort Gervase. You've just got to keep it up to the end of the season to win the competition outright!
