Gervase Takes The Lead!

IT'S ONLY TAKEN 130 YEARS!

Last night's '10' on the Fifield course provided a very special landmark in the Club's 130 year old history. MDCC's Gervase Foley took the lead in the Thursday Evening '10'  handicap league for the 'Bill Rundle Cup' with 31 points.   This is the first time ever a lady member has lead this competition which has been running since the late 1940s.  A brilliant effort Gervase. You've just got to keep it up to the end of the season to win the competition outright!

A pleasant evening brought nearly all riders improvements in their '10' times this year which brought smiles to many of our members faces.

Fastest rider on the evening was Pete Weir with 22:39  who when interviewed after the event said it was just an average effort. He did concede however it was his first 22 minute '10' of the season. Second in was A W Cycles, Neil Cooper, producing a 23:19 with MDCC's Jules Fairley maintaining his excellent run of form in 23:34 .

Joe Francis back from the States  was happy with his 24:10  but was just beaten by new 2nd claim MDCC member Paul Redman by 3 secs.   In the juvenile riders Robert Tinn took 2 minutes off his time to finish in 28:10 while last years  ladies champion Linda Regel took a minute off her time to get nearer to the 30 minute mark in 30:47. TVT's Louise Bardsley's 26:24  took a massive 2 1/2 minutes off last weeks time.

The evening however belonged to Gervase finishing in 29:28 to go into the lead in our most hotly contested season long competition.
