The Derek Addaway Trophy - First MDCC Championship of 2011

Andrew Payne Takes the Sporting Courses Championship Again

The Derek Addaway Trophy has  been won  again this year by Andrew Payne with an excellent 16th place in the Hilly '15' on our new full distance '15' course, finishing in 37:08 .Together with his 51:48 ride in the shortened Hilly '30' Andrew completed both events with an average speed of 24.63 mph. Andrew  has trained hard  and scientifically over the last couple of years and the first MDCC Championship of the year  is a just reward for all the work he has put in.

In second place with 20.58 mph average speed was Mark Brewer. Well done Mark for all those years of trying. No bronze medal was awarded as only these 2 members completed both events.

NB  Derek Addaway was a Club timekeeper who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Bath Road at Taplow while he and his wife were cycling home from a Friday clubnight in March 1967.
