WLC 25m TT, 20th march 2011
Eight MDCC riders got up early on Sunday morning to contest the 25 miles of rolling roads between Tatling End and Great Missenden, among them two riders tackling the classic distance for the first time. A southerly breeze helped on the mainly uphill outward leg, but made hard going of what should have been a fast return. In the end, the race was settled by a single second, with Sam Hilton's 1:4:58 just pipping Rob Brockwell's 1:4:59. Jon Crompton was half a minute back in third.
On his début at the distance, Ian Brodie clocked a commendable 1:8:12 for fourth, while the much more experienced Nigel Shurben was last of the 20mph+ riders with 1:14:49. Mark Brewer got the better of Gurpal Panesar in their private battle in the 1:18s, while Sarah Davies, also new to the 25 mile discipline, brought up the rear with 1:24:54, including a brief excursion up the wrong road at one of the many roundabouts on the course. Fastest time of the day was set by Steve Golla of High Wycombe CC, with 56:00.
