MDCC 80km Reliability Trial
We were pleased to see 20 members set off this morning from Bray Wick Sports ground in poor conditions for the first of our Reliability Trials. They split into 2 groups, fast and medium pace but with the fast group suffering punctures they finished with only 5 minutes difference at the end.
The medium group rode very well keeping together until the finish. All except our two Thames Velo second claim members Paul Todd and Paul Redman, their veins coursing with roadmans blood they couldn't resist taking a flier for the finish in the last few miles. We were also delighted to welcome some new members including David Dyer, Brett Ansley, George Kennedy and Alex Hughes as well as Joanne Bailie as a guest on our ride to give us 3 ladies in this group.
Gurpal who finished behind his group, owing to a call of nature, has his eyes set on our new Sportive Trophy and has already a total of 180 miles in events this year.
In the fast group Dominic took the fast route home near Windsor so didn't finish while Danuta was very unlucky to puncture a mile from the finish and suffering from the wet and cold she summoned the broom wagon to get her home.
Last to finish were a not very fit Mark and Linda who persevered to get round but outside the 4 hour time limit. They deserve an honourable mention for sticking at it. Their mileage still counts towards the Sportive Trophy.
Well done to all those that took part. The next event is the 100 km on Sunday, 27th February.
