MDCC Sportive Championship 2010

Neil Turner 2010 MDCC Sportive Champion

The results for the 2010 Sportive Championship have now been finalised and Neil Turner is the club champion with 633 miles from 7 events with Sarah Davies taking 2nd place with 585 miles from 6 events. In 3rd place was MDCC hill climb champion Ian Blatchford with 519 miles.

We were particularly pleased to see Sarah take 2nd place after completing the China for Women Ride. Sarah has regularly supported our Clock Tower runs this year and has also helped at our Go Ride sessions at Cox Green. It was good to see her children taking part there as well.

Paul Todd who is a 2nd claim member and regular Thursday evening time trialist completed a massive 1029 miles from 12 events.Unfortunately as a 2nd claim member he does not qualify for the championship

Although most sportive rides took place in Britain, Rob Brockwell and Paul Todd both completed an arduous L'Etape in sweltering conditions. At the end of the year Derek and Chris Cockerton took on the South African Sportive but the prize for the furthest away sportive must go to Sarah's China Ride at the Great Wall.
