Looks like Simon Greenland takes the 100tt championship

At some unearthly hour on Sunday morning(3-4am) Simon Greenland and Gurpal individually left the Maidenhead area heading south to take part in the SCCU 100tt.  The scheduled start time was some time after 6am, obviously too early for other club members to enter.

So how did the racing actually go.  Well I wasn't there so have absolutely no idea. However I assume Simon whizzed along at speeds varying between 20-30mph on some roads near the south coast.  He may not have enjoyed the experience at the time, but he appears to have completed without problems in 4hours 16mins to take 14th place which I'm sure he will find pleasing.  The winner was Rob Pelham in 3hrs 52 mins.

So how did Gurpal get on.  He completed in a time of 5hrs 37min against his target of sub 5hr 30mins.  I've heard two rumours about his ride.

1 - The course was not a simple out and back / round and round course but had a number of dog legs. Due to the speed he was going and that he was catching Simon he missed a turn.  As a result his bike computer says he actual travelled 128miles in the time.  If only he stayed on course his time would have been around 4hr 3-8mins which would have made him the 100tt championship

2 - Must tell his wife about this, but he got distracted by Sarah Roy who finished about 13 seconds behind him.

Well done to both Simon and Gurpal for safely completing the event.

There may still be a 100tt that can be entered if anyone wants to challenge Simon's time.
