The First MDCC Championship of the Year Decided

Andrew Payne Clinches the Sporting  Courses Championship

The Derek Addaway Trophy was won yesterday by Andrew Payne with an excellent 6th place in the Hilly '15', finishing in 35:07 .Together with his  1:15:07  ride in the Hilly '30' Andrew completed both events with an average speed of 24.01 mph. Andrew's bike handling has improved notably this year and he takes corners with far greater confidence saving a few  precious seconds. He has trained hard  and the first MDCC Championship is a  just reward for all the work he has put in.

In second place with 23.50 mph average speed was Simon Greenland. He has been slower coming into form this year but yesterday his 34:24 put him into 4th place in the '15'.  Rob Brockwell gained his first Club award, 3rd place,  finishing the competition in 22.57 mph. Well done Rob!

NB  Derek Addaway was a Club timekeeper who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Bath Road at Taplow while he and his wife were cycling home from a Friday clubnight in March 1967.
