Clock tower ride 15 April 18

Although the weather was not as nice as yesterday, it was still warm enough to bring out one of our largest groups for a while - 3 new riders and 9 regulars left the clock tower at 0900 this morning.

Gurpal had a plan (he pretends he doesn't like hills but I am not so sure!) to go up to Frieth and then Dolesden Lane so that we could have coffee in the Barn. Fiona (and husband Mark who has been trying to persuade her to come out with us for ages) and Paul only wanted to do a shorter ride and didn't fancy that much climbing so we split at the triangle in Turville with 9 of us carrying on up the hill. Plenty of cyclists at the Barn enjoying coffee/cakes and bacon butties - even a trio on electric mountain bikes. Taran was a bit worried when they sailed past him with ease!

A fast fun descent down to Stonor, then down through the Assendons - lots of horses along here today - and to Henley. After Wargrave Dave and Chris split off - it was Dave's first time out after his 4 weeks in Australia and New Zealand so his legs were feeling it with the jet lag etc, the rest of us went through Twyford and Binfield where Steve headed to Bracknell leaving the last few to make it back to Maidenhead.

A really nice social ride today - a few little efforts, but plenty of chatting and even some coffee! I did 42 miles at 16mph.
