50 Club Championship - every second counts....
An improved forecast and what seemed like still conditions in the car park greeted Andrew, Simon, Jorj and I at the WLCA 50 yesterday.
Many parts of the road had been resurfaced so this and the still conditions suggested some fast times might be achieveable. However out on the road the wind picked up and although it was very fast in parts, it was also tough going in others and it seemed to switch with each lap.
The weather held well with just a few very light spots of rain and all four of us completed the race. After 50 miles and circa 2 hours it all came down to a handful of seconds with Andrew taking the club win by 15 seconds. Well done Andrew.
We missed out on the club win with Newbury taking the honours. With both first and second spots taken by them with some cracking times of 01:48:55 (Tim Cartwright) and 01:53:34 (Ian Greenstreet). However, we think we might have set a new club record for sub 6 hours between 3 of us. Time to consult the records...
Club times:

Stu: 01:58:43
Simon: 02:01:13
