Clock Tower Ride - 13th July

Good to see a couple of new joiners as Mia and Louis (hope I've spelled you both right) joined John, Dan, Taran and I for what turned out to be a longer than usual ride for us.  Initial discussions about a route ended with a request to climb Pishill so we headed off to Henley via Knowl Hill.  Passing the road works along the Fairmile we started off to Pishill (having assured our new riders that although it was a fairly long drag, only the last bit was steep).  Everyone made it ok, although Dan was held back by a dropped chain.

At the top I pointed out we could go any of three ways.  John pointed out we had only ever gone two of the ways and as Taran wanted to see some views I thought that for once we would see the spectacular vista and fast ride down Britwell Hill.  The idea was to go on past the A40 and up to Stokenchurch, but I mistakenly turned up Howe Hill and we found ourselves back at the top of Pishill and went back to Stokenchurch from there.  Louis had a bit of a cramp at that point, but fortunately we came across a feed station for an Evans sportive and he got some food there.

John wanted to get back for lunch so we split up for the descent into Marlow as he, Taran and Dan went on and Mia, Louis and I followed.  At Marlow Louis got picked up and I thought I saw a sign saying the bridge was closed so Mia and I headed back to Maidenhead via Cookham.  However we came across Taran and Dan coming in the other direction so perhaps it wasn't.  Quite a long 50mph, average speed 15mph and 2,100ft climbing.  I'll be in the Pyrenees for the next couple of weeks so that was some good practice.  See you in a few weeks.
