Time Trial Update - February
Dates:
The club dates are agreed and loaded onto the calendar with just a few to add/amendments soon.
These include the West London Combined events - Remember that the WLC events are free to enter for club members. We’ll be in touch nearer the time for each and it would be good to increase club participation on these (but free doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to be a no-show).
Further details can be found on the CTT and WLC websites too:
http://www.lwdc.co.uk/Default.aspx
Prizes:
We’re going to look into securing some weekly prizes such as club branded water bottles. A nice incentive for the various categories.
Categories:
For this year we’ll include in the results whether the rider was on a TT bike or a Roadie. This will help some put into context their performance compared to others.
Volunteers:
A big thank you to everyone who helped out last year. It’s greatly appreciated and without you we couldn’t run the events so successfully. The volunteer form on the website worked well so we’ll continue with that for this year.
It would be great to see more helping out, especially with the finish timing. It’s not as scary as it seems and we’ll happily run a “training session” for anyone wanting to get involved. You’re more than welcome to shadow other volunteers to get a feel of the different roles too.
Advance reservations:
We’ll pilot the ability of reserving your start number in advance should you wish to. This will help those with time constraints participate more. It will be a work in progress and refined through the year. We’ll advise more nearer the start of the season but initial guidelines are:
- Applies to club members only
- Will be administered via the website and have a cut off time of the previous midnight
- First come, first served on the numbers regardless of how many times someone has had “X” number
- 3 strikes and you’re out for no shows/non-payment
- Can be reserved 1 week in advance on the night provided you pay in advance
Books:
The CTT and WLC books have been ordered in a small quantity. If you’d like one please get in touch. Any spares will be for sale on the club nights.
Flyers:
We’d like to produce a flyer and ask local bike shops, Tri clubs etc to pass on to promote the club events. If you have any printing and/or design contacts, or any shop/club contacts please get in touch.
Website:
Additional information added covering club members favourite events and courses
A closed course TT:
We’re going to look into the possibility of arranging a TT on a closed course. This was done previously at Dorney Lake and is a good way to race in a safe and controlled way, maybe set a PB, but more importantly introduce new riders or youngsters for whom the road isn’t a suitable place to start out.
Velodrome visit:
For the Hoy and Trott wannabes - The Olympic park velodrome opens in March this year so we’re going to look into a club track day there. We may need to buddy up with a couple of other clubs to make it viable, plus arrange the relevant accreditation.
