Staying together!

11 of us today - and we stayed together all the way round to the very end! No drop outs this week...but it was shorter and slower than recently, partly due to the fact I did a 90 mile Sportive yesterday and partly because Gurpal had just done the 25 mile TT on the ski slope. Malcolm met us at the start with membership cards (and to tell some of us we hadn't paid yet...we have now! oops) Summer really feels like it has arrived, although it was a bit breezy!

So, we pootled down the Drift Road to Windsor Great Park and through it to the other side, where Lucas's crank came loose - very loose! And even Gurpals toolkit was not enough! Between Rob and Gurpal, a shoe and a rock the crank was eventually bashed back into place - at least enough that Lucas could continue - I think his Dad may have a bit of work to do! After that interruption, the troops got restless so Rob took most off a bit faster to Binfield where we regrouped, Gurpal then gave Rob perfect directions (or so he thought...) so most of us sped off behind him, leaving Gurpal behind. It wasnt till we ended up in a dead end that we realised something had gone wrong. A call to Gurpal, and much 'Rob cant listen to directions...' and we set off back to meet up with Gurpal...only to find he had remembered wrong and the directions were incorrect! Rob had followed them exactly.....apologies said, we carried on - we had lost alot of time by now, and no-one really had time for a cup of tea at Dinton Pastures so we headed back the usual way to Maidenhead.

So, just 43 miles today at an average of 15.3mph = a good recovery ride for me after yesterday!
