Ever decreasing numbers....

It was breezy, yes, and not as warm as last week - but the sun shone and pulled 13 people to the Clock Tower on Sunday morning this week....some training for next weeks' Revolution, and 2 new members. We though that was a big group, but we managed to pick two ladies up as we were going through Cookham who were also doing the Revolution next week and didn't know there was an MDCC...they do now! That meant 15. Was it a record number...not sure, but it wasn't far off.

Anyway, we made out way into Marlow and up to Lane End. I knew there would be a brisk west wind so thought it would be better to have that wind to our backs on the way home. It was a decent pace up to the top, with Mark out front followed by smaller groups behind, and Gurpal brought up the rear (although not far behind at all...he has been practising!). Left down to Frieth and Turville and then up Holloway Hill .... .at rush hour! It was impossible to do a good time with so many cars, but the bluebells are looking stunning so it was a gorgeous ride. At the top we lost one of our new ladies (I am so sorry. Can't remember your name...Rob from the bird Hill group's girlfriend) as she needed to get home.

Up to Stokenchurch and there we lost our other 2 girls - back to me being the only girl! Oh well, I am used to it! A couple of little falls at the top of the hill, but everyone was fine. We then went through Christmas common to the top of Pishill but decided to go round via Fair Mile - that was fun and ended with a comparison of top speeds at the bottom ( I think Dan won with 43mph). Here we lost Dave who needed to get back for his wife's birthday and he went off up Remenham hill. For the rest of us it was through Henley towards Wargrave. Ping, off came a chain as it snapped up one of the small rises.... lost 2 more to fix it. Then lost Lucas at the A4. Only a few left! Over to Twyford and I let the others go on as I turned to home. Dan did the whole lot and his stats were 50 miles at 17.3mph.
