Clock Tower Ride - 24th Feb - Winter is back

I should have known it was too early to herald spring in last week's report as it was bitterly cold at 9:00 by the Clock Tower this morning.  The good news was that it was very dry despite the occassional snow flake fluttering down, meaning there was no ice around.  We were pleased to be joined today by a new rider James, so with regulars Gurpal, David, Rob and I that made it five of us braving the cold and poorly surfaced South Bucks roads this morning.

After a brief debate about whether or not to do hills today, we decided to 'go for it' and started off up Berry Hill past Cliveden coming back down through Bourne End to Marlow where it was agreed we would try another climb to Frieth.  At the crossroads we spent some time dealing with people wanting various directions and then headed down to Hambleden and Henley before a flatter route home through Wargrave and Twyford.

I made it 38 miles in 2h 47m, average speed 15.2mph.  Next week I am doing a 200k Audax, the following week is the Hilly 30 TT at Frieth (where I am helping - contact Andrew Payne if you can do the same) and a week after that I am back in the same area trying out a new sport for me - the Marlow Duathlon.  So see you all in a few weeks, by then I am sure it will be much warmer.
