Parish notices....and the clock tower run
Just a couple of things....
Malcolm will be coming to the start of the reliability ride next Sunday...he will bring membership cards for those who have paid up, for those that haven't it will be a good opportunity to bring a cheque.
I will cycle past the clock tower at 0900 on Sunday to pick up anyone who has gone there not knowing that the reliability ride is going from Braywick.
And onto the ride today. I was feeling very sluggish early on, and struggled to even get out of Maidenhead...I wonder if I have overdone it in the past couple of weeks...so I blatantly drafted the 6 others to Twyford, eventually getting my legs at Sonning. Up the hill to Playhatch and Dan was off into the distance (something that was to be repeated a few times today!) We did a fairly standard route up to Sonning Common and up Witheridge Hill, to Nettlebed and Stokenchurch. We lost new member Terry who cut back to Henley as he had to continue home to Windsor, but the rest of us battled on in the hope that we would now get the tail wind as we had had a brink headwind all the way so far. The hill down to Marlow is one that Dan and David B always try to do quickly...and today it was hoped that the 'Tailwind' would help push them along....'more of a side wind' was what Dan shouted to me as he zoomed past....I never was much of a weather observer! I nearly kept up with David but he gets me every time on those down hill bits!
Many of us felt pretty spent by the time we got to Marlow, Dan and David B disappeared to leave Olly (freezing to death in shorts, short fingered gloves and one layer!) David D, me and ?(sorry having a blond moment and can't remember your name....) to limp home through Bourne End.
It was not a fast run today, don't know why many of us felt so tired...possibly the wind and the cold. Anyway, 48 miles, 15.5mph average.
See you all next week....hopefully with fresher legs!
