MDCC v TVT Interclub '10' and Social
TVT Takes The Win!
We were delighted to welcome Thames Valley Triathletes to our annual interclub '10' this Thursday. After a few adjustments each team fielded 16 riders on one of the few warm evenings we've had this year. Times were a little slower than expected possibly because of the close conditions.
SIGNING ON
The event pulled out riders who haven't ridden '10's' much if at all this year so it was good to see all the different faces taking part and contributing to the event's success. For the first time in 3 years TVT came out the winners in a total time of 6:56:38 with MDCC being runners up in 7:01:16. A difference of under 5 minutes after racing over 160 miles.
Sharkie Jaggard for TVT was fastest rider of the 2 teams in an excellent 22:29 while new MDCC member Stuart Auckland was very close behind in 22:35. MDCC's Danuta and Robert Tinn tied for the very first time in 23:18 while Mark Garnett in his first serious year produced a terrific pb of 24:39. It was good to see all TVT's riders beating 30 minutes especially as it included several riders who haven't ridden a TT before. Andy Sharpe told me she wasn't taking things seriously this year but still produced a respectable 27:19. All individual times on the TT page.
At the social at the Shire Horse after the event the plaques were presented to the winning teams Captain, Alex Scott, by the Club chairman Andrew Payne while Alex presented the runners-up plaque to MDCC's Sue Bennet-Snewin.
MDCC was also roundly beaten by TVT in the drinking and eating competition at the Shire Horse being completely outgunned by numerous plates of fish and chips, lasagne and chips, cheese pie and chips and assorted other items including I'm sure a plate of spam and chips.
I'm recommending all MDCC members follow TVT's diet to give us a chance of beating them next year!
Thanks to all who took part for making it an enjoyable evening.
