Club Reliability Ride - Sunday 28th February

On Sunday 28th February we will stage our annual Club Reliability Ride leaving Bird Hills Golf Club at 8:45am.

Sportive Trophy 2015

It was another year of impressive sportive mileage by club members with a new name on the club’s Sportive Trophy this year.  Well only a new name because Heather got married this year!  A number of sportives, a 24 hour ride from Newcastle to London and some long Audax’s (including a 600 km arduous ride across mountainous Wales that she probably won’t ever forgive me for encouraging her to do it!) led to an impressive tally of over 3,200 miles this year.

Some guests at the Clock Tower ride

We had a couple of guests from the Birds Hill Group today - which was a bit scary at first, but they were both gentle on us. Andrew and Heather joined Dave D, Pedro, myself and new member Nikki for the ride in the ridiculously mild November weather this morning. It was mild and dry, but we knew that the southerly wind was going to really pick up, and with my hip injury I needed to try and keep things reasonably flat, so we started off on a route to Windsor Great Park through Eton, Datchet and Runnymede.

Clock tower run - 18th Oct 15

I thought it was about time I started writing the clock tower runs up again! Haven't written for a while...but we have still been going out each week.

This week was fairly quiet - lots of people had events on, although none quite as exciting as Dave D coming 20th when representing team GB in the World Duathlon Championships in Darwin - he completed the 10k run/40k cycle/5k run in 2h 24m which put him 20th out of the 42 in his Age Group - amazing!

Maidenhead 1/2 Marathon

Bike guide required for the Maidenhead half Marathon on 6th September

Hi Members,

The organisers of the Maidenhead half Marathon, have been in touch looking for a rider to be at the front of the race to make sure the path is kept clear for the leading  riders.  I did this last year with another skyride leader, but so far, I'm the only one to respond back.

The race starts at 9.30, but we need to be at the town hall around 8.30.  Last year I did a quick recci of the 1st couple of miles through the town.
