Club Job Descriptions
President
- Co-ordinating, supporting and representing the Club.
Chair
Responsibilities:
- Producing and maintaining the Club Rules.
- Ensuring the Club is affiliated to governing bodies and associations.
- Implementing BC's Equity Policy.
- Maintaining regular contact with club members.
- Running the Club and committee is a proper manner, to the benefit of all members and associates.
- Enabling club volunteers to access training courses as required.
- Liaising with all sections of the Club and overseeing all Club activities.
Training:
- Sports coach UK - Good Practice and Child protection workshop.
Secretary
Responsibilities:
- Providing a structure for planning and managing events organised by the Club.
- Sponsorship of events (if applicable).
- Organising intra and inter-club competitions.
- Ordering, selling and storage of club kit and equipment.
- Organising and minuting all Club meetings.
- Communicating with the committee.
- Organising the Club's social events.
- Maintaining the records and engraving the Club's trophies.
Treasurer
Responsibilities:
- The finances of the Club.
- Raising funds through appeals, subscriptions, loans and charges.
- Preparing and submitting bids to appropriate funding sources.
- Ensuring the Club maintains adequate public liability insurance.
- Producing an audited statement of annual accounts.
- Reporting to the committee as required on all financial matters.
- Membership administration, including new members and renewals.
Club Welfare Officer
Responsibilities:
- Liaising with British Cycling National Child Protection Officer (NCPO) on matters of child protection.
- Promoting British Cycling's 'Policy and Procedures for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults', including distribution and display of leaflets and codes of conduct to members, parents and young people.
- Advising on the development of activities for young people within the Club.
- Supporting the registration of all personnel involved in activities for young people within the Club.
- Receiving, recording and passing on to the NCPO any concerns relating to the welfare of young people within the Club.

- Sports coach UK - Good Practice and Child protection workshop.
- NSPCC (Child Protection in Sport) Time to Listen workshop.
Club Contact
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the main contact point for existing and prospective members.
- Ensuring that the Club communication tools (e.g. website/newsletter) are kept up to date and accurately reflect their purpose, as agreed by the committee.
- Acting as a contact point for schools and youth organisations.
- Communicating with the local and, if applicable, national press.
- Acting as the contact point for the local authority, County Sports Partnerships, and British Cycling.
Training:
- Sports coach UK - Good Practice and Child protection workshop.
- Running Sport - A Club for All workshop.
Lead Coach
Responsibilities:
- Providing a structured coaching programme within the Club.
- Recruiting suitably qualified coaches.
- Organising a programme of Club training.
- Utilising British Cycling coaching resources to enhance the coaching and assessment programme.
- Ensuring that British Cycling recommendations of coach to rider ratio are not exceeded.
- Ensuring that all coaches affiliated with the Club hold appropriate professional indemnity and/or public liability insurance.
- Ensuring that all coaches affiliated with the Club are first aid trained.
- Showing commitment to further development and outreach work, supported with professional development of coaches within the Club.
- Ensuring his/her availability for evening and weekend coaching sessions.
