Reports of the 2010 Rides

For the 1st time in a number of years the club set dates for 3 reliability trials, but due to bad weather the dates were slipped by a couple of weeks leading to the cancellation of the 100+mile ride.

The 1st of 80km / 50miles on the 14th Feb was well supported by Maidenhead riders along with a riders from other local clubs.  The weather was foul and all were pleased to get back safely.  However despite having maps etc 2 riders took a slight diversion to stay out longer in the cold weather.

The 100km (or was it actually 105km) reliabiliy ride was held on 14th March with only 7 riders from Maidenhead taking part.  Mothering Sunday was obviously keeping riders away, unlike Valentines day.  The day was warm and sunny with a strong northly wind blowing.  The 7 riders made a pretty good job of all sticking together to the half way check point at Benson, with the strong riders helping and giving encouragement for the weeker members of the group.  The section from Streetly to Benson was especailly tough going on the exposed rolling road into the wind.  At Benson the group decided to split as several needed to get back for Mother's day activities.  Mike W and Andrew P set of quickly and were the 1st back to Braywick Park,  Some believe they got back quicker than  minimum ride time.

Riders taking part in these reliability trials will have the distances credited to the mileage for the Sportive championship.
